Flower Friday – Magnolia Grandiflora

“exmouth” and “goliath”

Description~ This type of Magnolia flower is apparently different than other Magnolias because it can bloom anytime between late summer to autumn. This flower is pretty large, fragrant, and creamy white. The goliath variation has larger flowers than the exmouth.

Cultivation~ The Magnolia Grandiflora is best kept in a well-drained, moist, organic, and acidic soil. It should be kept in full or light shade. You should mulch it with leaf mold in the spring. Do not over prune!

Thoughts~ This flower is really pretty. Again I’m in love with the stark white flower against the green leaves. I would definitely consider planting these flowers for the look of them…but wow the upkeep looks to be a lot. It needs so many specific soil aspects….I don’t know if I could keep them alive…
